STÉPHANE

VILLAFANE

Profil_01.JPG

Born in 1969 in France, Stéphane Villafane trained as an architect specializing in graphic arts and scenography. He practiced in Barcelona and Montpellier before settling in Palma de Mallorca in 2022 to devote himself fully to painting, which he has been practicing for more or less thirty years.

Stéphane's work explores the real beyond representation, to reveal a mental space in perpetual motion. His paintings have been shown in several galleries in San Francisco, London, Paris and Barcelona, and are part of international, public and private collections. He has also carried out numerous commissions for institutions, hotels and companies such as Tribune Tower Chicago, Norwegian Cruise Line, Four Seasons Hotels, Loews Hotels, Hilton Hotels, etc.

ARTWORKS

Stéphane paints as he moves through a landscape, striving to capture step by step the resonances and invisible chords that his body and mind silently absorb. In this approach, he conceives of his painting as a displacement—a living experience and pictorial space that blends rhythms, planes, and multiple temporalities without narration or measurement, ultimately achieving an emotional structure similar to a mental landscape.

His compositions embrace instability, imperfection, deviation, and accident as skilfully orchestrated creative forces. They do not aim to reach a specific goal but rather embody a form of permanent exile—an elsewhere without contour or limit, in perpetual transformation, existing only in the gaze of those who lose themselves within it.
