PATRICK
VAN RIEMSDIJK

DUTCH, 1986
Patrick comes from a family of artists, guided by his parents' passion for the arts, he creates what he loves, with each brushstroke reflecting deeply personal choices. For him, painting is an act of self-expression—his purest form of creative freedom.
It took years for Patrick to find his artistic voice. Now working within a defined style, he constantly experiments with new colors, materials, and forms. His process begins with color, often spending days mixing to achieve the perfect shade—only to sometimes run out mid-process. Frustrating as it may be, starting over is part of his commitment to artistic integrity.
In a fast-paced world, Patrick values the stillness of his studio. Much like the Japanese tradition of contemplating stones, he spends time observing his paintings—sometimes even upside down—before deciding whether to continue or consider them complete.
ARTWORKS
In Mallorca, he draws inspiration from the earthy landscape. This calm is reflected in his work, which layers diverse techniques to create rich visual depth. Thick and thin layers of paint interact to form vibrant, textured surfaces, often revealing hidden colors beneath. By incorporating elements of daily life, each piece tells its own compelling story.
Driven by a passion for exploration, Patrick sees painting as a lifelong learning process. He embraces its spontaneity and irreversibility—once a mark is made, it stays. Though often solitary, he thrives in the quiet intensity of the studio, fully immersed in the act of creation.
